Gov. Healey proposes $2.5B to upgrade state and community college campuses

Gov. Maura Healey on Tuesday announced a $2.5 billion bill proposal to invest in the UMASS system, state universities and community colleges.

The governor announced the bond bill – An Act to Build Resilient Infrastructure to Generate Higher Education Transformation (the BRIGHT Act) — at the Bridgewater State University Cyber Range. The proposal would use Fair Share revenues to fund investments such as new laboratories, classrooms and mental health facilities on college campuses.
