Fire at Glocester home sends 1 to the hospital

GLOCESTER, R.I. (WPRI) — Crews were met with heavy flames when they responded to a fire around 1 a.m. at a home on John Street near the Glocester/Smithfield line Sunday.

“Companies arrived on scene and found the house fully involved,” Harmony Fire Department Chief Steve Quattrini told 12 News. “One occupant was outside the house with some soot and some smoke inhalation.”

That person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for observation. Quattrini said two other people inside the home were able to escape safely on their own.

Tankers were called in to help firefighters knock down the flames because there were no hydrants close by…
