None of the first or second round March Madness sites are as expensive as Providence, Rhode Island. On the surface that might be confusing, why is a small northeast venue drawing so many eyeballs? Until you realize which teams, or specifically which coaches, are playing their first games in Providence.
Three of the most accomplished active coaches in college basketball will be in Providence this weekend. St. John’s Rick Pitino, Kansas’ Bill Self and Arkansas’ John Calipari have quite the resume between them. Five combined national championships and 17 total Final Four appearances.
