Providence man accused in 2023 deadly shooting takes plea deal

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A man accused of fatally shooting his roommate’s friend in the summer of 2023 in Providence took a plea deal on Wednesday.

Nikkolas Adams, 31, was originally charged with second-degree murder in the death of 37-year-old Samuel Chionuma. A grand jury later indicted the 31-year-old , charging him with manslaughter instead.

Witness testimony previously revealed that Adams brought out a gun after getting into a fight with Chionuma’s friend. Chionuma and Adams’ roommate then tried to get the gun away from Adams and it went off during the struggle…
