16 people displaced after house fire in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A total of 16 people from four different families were displaced from their home following a house fire on Saturday morning.

According to Battalion Chief Edward Dwyer of the Providence Fire Department, calls came in just before 8 a.m. for a report of a basement fire at a home on Sorrento Street.

Dwyer said the fire took about a half hour to knock down, with the fire being contained to the basement, but smoke damage throughout the building…
