Aaron Thomas trial postponed for 2nd day

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) – The trial of Aaron Thomas has been canceled for the second consecutive day as the judge presiding over the case tends to a family emergency.

The last time the jury convened to hear testimony was Thursday. Court was closed for Good Friday, and it hasn’t resumed ever since. R.I. Courts spokesperson Alexandra Kriss said jurors have been placed on “active juror status until further notice.” R.I. Superior Court Judge Melanie Wilk Thunberg is presiding.

“The trial of Rhode Island v. Aaron Thomas is currently paused as the judge tends to a family medical emergency,” Kriss said in a statement. “When the Superior Court was notified of the medical emergency, the Jury Commissioner’s office alerted the jurors that the case would be temporarily paused.”…
