PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) said they are trying to ease the backups that have been seen along I-195 East.
Starting Friday, RIDOT will install traffic paddles along a 500-foot stretch to help traffic merge more efficiently. It will be at the beginning of the highway, where drivers are coming from the I-95 North and South merge.
The paddles will be put in the center of the highway, RIDOT said, allowing traffic in the two lanes from I-95 North and the two lanes from I-95 South to change lanes when vehicles are parallel to each other.
