CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) – Hundreds of people showed up at former Gov. Ed DiPrete’s wake on Sunday to pay their respects.
DiPrete died Tuesday during his 91st birthday. Those who knew him best said that he was the same, caring man his entire life.

“The Ed DiPrete that passed away at 91 years the other day is the same Ed DiPrete in many ways that I knew 50 years ago,” DiPrete’s former Chief of Staff Robert Murray told 12 News Sunday.
Those who worked alongside the former governor remembered him at his wake Sunday night in Cranston. DiPrete spent seven years as mayor of Cranston, then eventually winning the gubernatorial race as the Republican candidate in 1984 and serving as the state’s governor from 1985 to 1991…
