Ex-Kansas sheriff’s deputy facing child exploitation charges in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A deputy sheriff from Kansas accused of exploiting a child in Fall River did not appear in court on Thursday for a scheduled probable cause hearing.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said 24-year-old Garrett Gayoso has been charged with sending obscene matter to a child, posing/exhibiting a nude child, and posing/exhibiting a child sex act.

In May, Kansas’ Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office shared in a social media post that they had been contacted by Fall River police. Investigators told the sheriff’s office that Gayoso, who was at that point a deputy sheriff, was allegedly involved in an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile victim from Massachusetts.
