West Warwick Man Admits to Multi-State ATM Thefts, Facing Potential 10-Year Sentence

David Degrasse, a 59-year-old from West Warwick, Rhode Island, confessed to a string of ATM thefts across several states. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of New York, Degrasse performed a pre-dawn heist on April 27, 2023, at a Catskill, New York restaurant, extracting around $9,300.

Acting U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III, having led a multi-state joint operation, said, “David Degrasse’s multi-state crime spree is over,” admitting in his statement the satisfaction of ending Degrasse’s “despicable targeting and burglarizing of small businesses,” as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Degrasse, who is now in custody, has agreed to forfeit the $9,300 from the Catskill theft and is ordered to pay full restitution. The prosecution, spearheaded by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Reiner, draws a line under Degrasse’s illicit activities, thanks to a probe by federal and state law enforcement agencies. Facing a maximum sentence of 10 years behind bars, Degrasse also might be hit with a fine up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release…
