RI nurse charged with DUI, accused of drinking on the job

GLOCESTER, R.I. (WPRI) — A registered nurse’s license to practice was suspended following an arrest last month for reportedly drunk driving after leaving work, Target 12 has learned.

Sherry McCaffrey, 59, of Rehoboth, was arrested on June 26 in Glocester after she was spotted driving down Putnam Pike at a low rate of speed just after 9:30 p.m., according to a police report obtained by Target 12. McCaffrey was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and refusing to submit to a breathalyzer.

Traffic court records reveal that McCaffrey told the officer that she had been working for the past three hours, but had a glass of wine at home earlier in the morning prior to her shift…
