The National Weather Service reported an air quality alert at 11:46 p.m. on Sunday in effect until Tuesday at midnight for Northern Worcester and Southern Worcester as well as Franklin, Middlesex, Essex, Hampshire, Hampden, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bristol, Plymouth, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties.
“The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Alert for Fine Particulates, until midnight Monday night. An Air Quality Alert means that Fine Particulates concentrations within the region may approach or exceed levels that are Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. Air is unhealthy for sensitive children and adults, such as those with asthma, lung or heart disease, and older adults. Sensitive children and adults should limit prolonged outdoor activity,” says the weather service.
