Tree branch causes power outage in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — More than 6,000 Rhode Island Energy customers lost electricity Tuesday morning after a large tree branch fell onto power lines in Providence.

According to the utility provider, a tree-trimming crew was doing work around 10:30 a.m. when the branch came down. The outage reportedly happened in the area of Riverdale Street and Manton Avenue.

Power was restored to nearly all customers who were impacted by 11:30 a.m.
