Woonsocket middle schoolers forced to walk new route following sudden footbridge closure

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WJAR) — Woonsocket middle school students are walking a different route to school following a sudden footbridge closure.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation recommended to close the Kendrick Avenue Footbridge after the finding major deficiencies underneath it.

Mayor Christopher Beauchamp said this bridge over the Blackstone River was closed Friday following a RIDOT inspection.
