Rehoboth man sentenced for helping state troopers cheat CDL tests

BOSTON (WPRI) — A Rehoboth man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a bribery scheme to falsify records, allowing unqualified applicants to receive commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs).

A judge sentenced Scott Camara, 44, on Monday to one month in prison, followed by one year of supervised release. He pleaded guilty in April to one count of conspiracy falsify records and perjury.

In January 2024, six people, including two retired Massachusetts State Police (MSP) troopers and two active troopers, were each indicted on the following charges:

  • Three counts of conspiracy to falsify records
  • Three counts of extortion
  • Three counts of conspiracy to commit extortion
  • Six counts of mail fraud
  • 31 counts of falsification of records
  • 27 counts of false statements,
  • Perjury

Camara worked in October 2021 with Gary Cederquist — an MSP sergeant at the time—to hand out passing scores to four troopers who applied for CDLs, without actually taking the test…
