West Nile detected again in RI, Mass. communities

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — While the weather may be getting cooler, experts say it’s important to take precautions to prevent mosquito bites.

Dr. Janelle Couret is the lead scientist of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management’s (DEM) Mosquito Abatement Coordination Office.

“[Mosquitos] still can be active and biting so its great that it’s a little cooler cause you’re more likely to wear long sleeves and pants,” Couret told 12 News on Friday. “There isn’t one particular part of the state that I would say you don’t have to worry about West Nile virus.”…
