Providence leaders hold ribbon cutting for newly renovated Richardson Park

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Providence Mayor Brett Smiley and other leaders celebrated the completion of Richardson Park renovation with a ribbon cutting on Thursday.

According to city officials, the nearly $2 million renovation included an outdoor fitness area, two new playgrounds, a renovated splashpad and other amenities.

“Investing in our parks is about creating safe, modern and accessible spaces in every neighborhood where families can gather and neighbors can connect,” Smiley said. “These improvements also reflect our commitment to sustainability, with new designs that conserve water and add green infrastructure, together strengthening our communities while building a more resilient Providence.”
