A teenage girl lost her life in Taunton following a single-vehicle crash that resulted in her vehicle catching fire. The tragic incident occurred late last night on Tremont Street, as confirmed by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. Boston 25 News reports that police responded to the scene at around 10:13 p.m. to find a Toyota Tacoma engulfed in flames.
The crash, police say, led to the Tacoma, operated by a female teenager from Dighton, striking the front porch of a residence before rolling onto parked cars. Speaking to a loud screeching sound, witnesses described prior to the Tacoma’s departure from the road, hitting a large rock and igniting. A video captured the moment sparks flew from the vehicle’s underside just before it overturned, as per a report by 7NEWS.
The identity of the deceased has yet to be released pending notification of her next of kin. The violent crash not only claimed the teen’s life but also inflicted injuries on two individuals. Authorities uncovered, those who had been on the porch when the pickup truck struck, now hospitalized with multiple injuries.
