Woonsocket man charged with DUI, child endangerment after crash

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving under the influence with a child in the car.

Sergio Lopes, 31, of Woonsocket, was arrested just after midnight Sunday following a crash on Route 146 North in Providence, according to the Rhode Island State Police arrest log.

Lopes was charged with the following:

  • Child endangerment
  • Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs (BAC pending test results)
  • Driving under the influence with a passenger under 13
  • Reckless driving
  • Failure to stop for accident resulting in damage to an attended vehicle
  • Simple assault
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Obstructing an officer in the execution of duty
  • Weapons other than firearms

Police said Lopes was treated at Rhode Island Hospital before being arraigned at the Lincoln Woods Barracks. He was released and is expected to appear in court at a later date…
