(WPRI) — It feels like fall in New England with leaves changing color, colder weather creeping in, and plenty of festivities scheduled for October’s long weekend.
There is a coastal storm headed for Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts that is expected to bring damp, windy and chilly weather.
Here’s a look at the events scheduled for this weekend and where they stand in relation to the stormy weather.
Rhode Island
North Providence
Fall Book Sale: From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, the North Providence Union Free Library will be hosting its fall book sale at 1810 Mineral Spring Avenue. Admission to the event is $5 which includes a raffle ticket. From 9 a.m. until noon there will be a coffee bar and from 10 a.m. until noon there will be balloon twisting. Dawn, the duck that’s gained attention locally on social media, will a also make an appearance around 1 p.m. Organizers say the event will be entirely inside if there is inclement weather.
Providence
40th Annual Galbani Columbus Weekend Festival: The festivities in Federal Hill will run from 5 p.m. until 12 a.m. on Friday, from 11 a.m. until 12 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday. For all four days, Dean Street to Sutton Street along Atwells Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic. The festival will feature a live cooking stage, vendors, food, music games and a parade…
