Trash compactor fire breaks out at Providence scrap metal company

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — First responders were called to a scrap metal business in Providence after a fire broke out Tuesday morning.

Police and firefighters responded to Aluminum & Copper Recycling at the corner of Waldo and Salem streets. According to city spokesperson, the fire was contained to a trash compactor.

The cause remains under investigation, and the spokesperson said a full report will be released once it’s complete.
