On October 23, 2025, Michael Marrapese, 46, of Cranston, Rhode Island, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Ise. The sentencing took place in Providence Superior Court before Justice Maureen B. Keough. Marrapese was also declared a habitual offender and received a consecutive 25-year sentence. The case was prosecuted by the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office. Attorney General Peter F. Neronha stated that the verdict may provide some closure for Lauren Ise’s family and friends.
The crime occurred on March 13, 2019. Cranston Police responded to a call at 245 Bay View Avenue after a friend of Marrapese reported that he had confessed to killing Lauren Ise. Police found Ise deceased in her apartment. An autopsy determined the cause of death was strangulation, with evidence of blunt force trauma and defensive wounds.
Investigators found a history of conflict between Marrapese and Ise. The couple ended their relationship on February 15, 2019.
