Rhode Island awards $1.8 million to organizations for winter housing for unhoused people

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Rhode Island has issued almost $2 million to organizations to temporarily house unhoused individuals this winter.

The state issued $1.8 million in tentative awards through the state’s “Winter Response Grant.”

The Rhode Island Council of Churches received $200,000 to staff and operate as “Flexible Winter Response” locations…
