CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) — A pop-up food pantry was held Saturday afternoon in Central Falls to help those in need.
The event was held on Saturday on Hunt Street, and the line rounded the corner of the block. This comes as thousands of Rhode Islanders didn’t receive their November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits as the government shutdown continues.
“It’s unfortunate that we’re in this situation and I’m hoping that this is going to end sometime soon,” Mayor Maria Rivera told 12 News. “It doesn’t seem like it’s going to end anytime soon, but we’re hopeful that it does.”…
