Thieves steal $1,000 in smash-and-grab at Golden Champa restaurant in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WJAR) — A Cumberland restaurant owner, recently forced out of retirement, is grappling with the aftermath of a robbery.

The Golden Champa on Bound Road was targeted overnight, with thieves shattering the front door glass by hurling a rock through it.

Police said they stole the cash register with $1,000 and a bowl of coins.
