Traffic stop for seat belt violation in Woonsocket leads to drug, gun charges

Woonsocket police said Saturday that they arrested two people on drug and gun charges.

Police said Malda Tyks, 50, and her boyfriend, David Kennedy, 35, were pulled over on Holder Lane for a seat belt violation.

Police said crack cocaine was in plain sight in the door panel.

“Kennedy was then found to be in possession of another 2.2 ounces of fentanyl as well as a loaded magazine,” police said in a release. “The firearm (loaded with 9mm) was subsequently located in Tyks purse, which she was holding at the time of the stop, along with an additional small amount of fentanyl.”…
