Driver who crashed into Providence home ordered to undergo drug treatment

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Cranston man was sentenced Tuesday for refusing to submit to a chemical test after he crashed his pickup truck into a Providence home, sparking a fire.

Richard Carlino, 53, was found guilty of the charge and sentenced to 10 hours of community service. He was also ordered to undergo drug treatment and his license was suspended for 10 months.

Two other charges — laned roadway violation and reasonable and prudent speed — were dismissed by the prosecution.
