Plowable snow increasingly likely across parts of Rhode Island on Tuesday

The odds of a plowable snowfall are increasing across parts of Rhode Island on Tuesday.

Before we get to Tuesday, we’ll have a round of rain developing on Sunday afternoon. Sunshine returns for one day in between storms on Monday, but it will be cold with highs in the low 40s.

That cold airmass sets the stage for our first potential winter storm of the season. Precipitation is likely to begin midday Tuesday and continue into Tuesday night. This won’t be a major snowstorm, but it could bring a plowable snow to interior portions of Southern New England.

The best chance for plowable snowfall will be across northwestern portions of Rhode Island, north and west of I-95. The chance for accumulating snow drops off quickly east of I-95. Relatively mild sea surface temperatures off our coastline will likely result in mainly rain for southeastern Massachusetts with this storm…
