R.I. health officials back hepatitis B birth dose ahead of federal vaccine panel meeting

No matter what a federal advisory committee recommends later this week, t he Rhode Island Department of Health on Monday reasserted the state’s commitment to preserving continued access to the hepatitis B vaccine for newborns.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is scheduled to discuss and potentially vote on changing the hepatitis B vaccine schedule for infants when it meets Thursday at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.
