Police: Burrillville man threatens officer, public safety after comment on poor parking

BURRILLVILLE – What began with a verbal notice about an illegal parking job ended with an arrest and multiple charges for one Burrillville man, who drove recklessly through a busy village area according to police.

Scott Brosious, 36, of Manley Drive was charged with threats against public officials, a felony, along with misdemeanor counts of reckless driving, obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

According to the arrest report, on Saturday, Nov. 15 around 6 p.m. an officer noticed Brosious’s car – a 1996 Honda Accord – double parked in the fire lane in front of Brigido’s market. The car was running, with an 8-year-old female in the passenger seat.

Brosious exited the store and demanded to know why the officer was standing near the vehicle, according to the report. Informed he was in a no parking area, he replied “whatever dude” and got into the car, slamming the door. Brosious then began revving his engine and shot out of the space into traffic, according to police. The car sped out of the parking lot ignoring stop signs without a blinker, and the officer noted that the area had a lot of foot traffic at the time…
