PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WTNH) — Saturday’s deadly mass shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island in which two people were killed and nine were injured was a tragedy that cut deep for those in our area with ties to the campus.

Brown freshman Max Ding, from Berlin, Connecticut, told News 8 he is very thankful that he was not on campus at the time of the shooting. He was back in Connecticut, but he is dreading his return.
“I know it could’ve been me,” Ding said. It could’ve been any of my closest friends. (I) actually came home for my brother’s state championship football game, which is very very good timing I guess.”
Ding has only been a college student for a few months. He never imagined experiencing a tragedy like this…
