A 355-unit apartment building could be built in Providence along the river

PROVIDENCE – A proposed 355-unit apartment building on the banks of the Seekonk River, with public access to a kayak launch and 281 mostly internal parking spaces, could receive preliminary plan approval on Dec. 16.

The proposed “27 East River Street” development would neighbor the Henderson Bridge, Waterman Grille, an insurance company building and a mill building converted into a commercial complex.

Despite its size and number of units, the project only needs master plan approval, which it already received, and preliminary plan approval. Final approval is done administratively. Because the project is just residential units, without commercial spaces, it qualifies as a minor, instead of major, land development…
