SEEKONK, Mass. (WPRI) — Crews recently began tearing down the Showcase Cinemas off Route 6 in Seekonk that will soon become a Market Basket.
The property was bought by the owner of the supermarket chain last August. The theater’s last day open was Jan. 5.

Seekonk Town Planner John Aubin told 12 News on Wednesday the town is excited for the arrival of Market Basket.
“Any time we see new development in town, we’re excited about it, particularly commercial development, especially when it’s a name like Market Basket that we know is a quality product,” Aubin said. “It’s a known brand, it’s something that we can be proud to say that we’ve got in town.”…
