MANSFIELD — A bald eagle was rescued after it flew into power lines on Monday, Connecticut State Police said.
Witnesses in the area of Ravine Road and Route 32 reported seeing the eagle fly into the lines and drop straight to the ground, police said. Concerned motorists stopped and confirmed the bird was still alive, and one passerby who was on his way to work said he stopped to help protect the eagle after vehicles almost struck it, police said.
A Mansfield resident state trooper responded to the scene, and David Stevens, a Connecticut licensed falconer who happened to be in the area, also stopped to help, police said. The eagle was safely contained and kept calm until transport arrangements were made, police said…
