Providence police expand Real Time Crime Center as colleges weigh participation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Despite the launch of Providence’s Real Time Crime Center over the summer, Col. Oscar Perez said only one college in the city, Johnson and Wales, shares its cameras through the program.

“We’re in this together,” Perez said. “I think we need to be prepared to have that mindset of keeping the city safe. And if that takes having the cameras and surveillance, I think that’s something we need to really start thinking about.”
