McKee bets $82 million on success of community learning centers across RI

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WPRI) — A total of 21 community learning centers are expected to be fully open and operational across Rhode Island in 2026, an effort that Gov. Dan McKee says is aimed at improving job growth, educational attainment, and health outcomes.

It’s a tall order for the governor, who is also up for reelection this fall. But in an exclusive interview last month, McKee told Target 12 he doesn’t see a downside to the investment.

“We’re not putting all the eggs in one basket. We’re investing in our schools,” McKee said…
