In 2024, Rhode Island’s revenue from sales and gross receipts taxes totaled $2.8 billion, placing the state 42nd nationwide in this category, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Annual Survey of State Government Tax Collections (STC).

This amount represents a 5% decline compared to the $3 billion collected in the prior year.
