Throughout the year, we see many fantastic sunrises — some of them are pretty exceptional.
We snap pictures of the best of the best, and we save them in a “Top 12 Sunrises” folder on our weather computers.

#12 East Greenwich on April 16, 2025
Fiery clouds started the day on April 16 as the sun got a little closer to the horizon. The bellies of these stratocumulus clouds turned vibrant shades of orange and yellow.
#11 East Providence on February 25, 2025
Clouds at different levels in the atmosphere helped create this wonderful, moody sunrise back on Feb. 25.
#10 Newport Harbor on July 29, 2025
This deck of cirrocumulus clouds passing over Newport was stunning back on July 29. Typically, high and mid-level clouds make the best sunrises. This scene with the church steeple in the foreground was a delight to see in the summertime.
#9 Lincoln on August 29, 2025
Again, during the summer, we captured the sun just peeking up over the trees in Lincoln, while the clouds took on yellow, orange, magenta, pink and purple hues.
#8 New Bedford on January 23, 2025
Back during the heart of winter last year, New Bedford was awash in orange. It was an unbelievable start to the day back on Jan. 23 in the Whaling City. The sky was orange and the harbor turned orange as the sun rose on that cold winter day.
