PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Emergency crews responded to investigate a suspicious package at the United States Postal Service building in Providence Wednesday afternoon.
Police and fire crews were dispatched to Corliss Street just after 3 p.m., where employees had activated a fire alarm to report a small rollaway suitcase that appeared suspicious.
The state bomb squad was called in, and a 12 News crew observed a robot deployed to examine a blue suitcase sitting on the sidewalk nearby. A technician later opened the suitcase, which appeared to be empty…
