Now that we have gotten past our “bonus” snow, with the front end thumping earlier this morning. Snowfall accumulation is put on pause for the next few hours. Temperatures warm into the mid-30s even as light snow continues to fall across much of the area. Raindrops may mix in at times along the coastline. Travel impacts are kept to a minimum because of the marginal temperatures and mainly wet roads until 5 PM.
After sunset, temperatures begin to slowly fade below freezing, allowing the snow to stick to the ground once again. Simultaneously, steadier snowfall rates of about 0.5″ per hour develop. The combo of the colder temperatures and heavier snowfall rates leads to slick travel conditions.
