Massachusetts Man Sentenced to State Prison for Wrong-Way DUI Crash in Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A Dighton, Massachusetts man is headed to state prison after a drunken, wrong-way highway rampage left six people hospitalized and four seriously injured, prosecutors said.

On Jan. 15, 2026, Providence County Superior Court Justice David Cruise sentenced Cary Guy, 33, to 17 years, with 10 years to serve at the Adult Correctional Institutions and seven years suspended with probation. Guy must also complete alcohol counseling and treatment and will lose his driver’s license for six years after his release.

Guy pleaded nolo contendere to four counts of driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury, four counts of driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury, and two counts of driving to endanger resulting in physical injury…
