Fall River building inspection chief Glenn Hathaway offers Swansea aid

SWANSEA — The Swansea Board of Selectmen decided at its Jan. 15 meeting to appoint Fall River’s Director of Inspectional Services Glenn Hathaway as an “alternate” inspector for the town.

Swansea’s building commissioner position remains “unfilled,” said Town Administrator Mallory Aronstein at the meeting. “We don’t want to keep budding businesses waiting,” she said, adding that having an inspector in place to share the workload and move forward with inspections “would greatly assist us.”

The town typically has a full-time building inspector, and Hathaway being sworn in would add a third alternate inspector to aid Swansea’s business and residential inspections while keeping up with with permitting schedules, as select board Chairman Steven Kitchin pointed out at the Jan. 15 meeting…
