Providence’s beloved Plant City, the world’s largest plant-based restaurant, has announced they are closing their doors for good in just a few weeks.
Although the restaurant had recently undergone renovations and has won numerous New England food awards during its 6 1/2 year run, the vegan and vegetarian food hall says February 8, 2026, will be their last day open.
Yet it doesn’t mean their menu will disappear for good.
Why Plant City Providence Is Closing
In a letter to their patrons posted to social media, Plant City Providence broke the news on Monday that they had reached the decision to close the restaurant after a two-year struggle.
Washington Bridge Traffic Impact Explained
Staff at the eatery pointed to the Washington Bridge “failure” and the affect it had on traffic patterns as the reason they must close their doors.
