Attleboro woman sentenced to 18 months for embezzling more than $400,000 from Franklin-based employer

BOSTON — A former office manager for Franklin-based Green Site Services Group, Inc., an environmental services business, was sentenced in federal court to 18 months in prison for embezzling more than $400,000 from her employer, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

On Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, Marie Hobson, 55, of Attleboro, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Casper to 18 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Hobson was also ordered to pay $511,119 in restitution and to forfeit $429,980. In October 2025, she was charged and pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud and one count of filing a false tax return.

Prosecutors say that between December 2019 and March 2025, Hobson inflated her own payroll by adding approximately $268,046 in fraudulent expense reimbursements, including uniform costs even though she did not wear a uniform in her position. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said she manipulated the company’s accounting software to conceal the thefts and make it appear she was only receiving her regular weekly salary.

Hobson also misused her company-issued credit card to pay for personal expenses, including country club memberships, vacations, cruises, timeshares and costs related to her personal residence, totaling more than $105,000, according to prosecutors…
