‘Significant coastal storm’ could bring snow, strong wind, flooding to RI

Forecasters continue to hedge their bets on a snowstorm that could affect Southern New England on Sunday, Feb. 1.

As of Thursday morning, Jan. 29, the National Weather Service indicated the strongest impacts were likely going to hit Cape Cod and the Islands, meaning the storm’s track would likely pass fairly far offshore.

“Continuing to monitor latest developments regarding a significant coastal storm which could affect Southern New England Sunday,” the weather service said in its forecast discussion. “There is a growing potential for accumulating snow and gusty winds for Cape Cod, the Islands and perhaps further westward into South Shore and the I-95 corridor.”…
