PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man is facing felony assault charges after a stabbing that sent one person to the hospital Monday.
Robert McLaughlin, 28, was arraigned Tuesday morning, accused of stabbing a 38-year-old man during a fight at the intersection of Thayer and Angell streets.

Police were called to the area around 3:30 p.m. after an officer working a detail at the Brown Bookstore noticed a large crowd gathering outside and several people recording something in the distance.
Witnesses told police two men were fighting behind a car near the Chase Bank. The officer separated them and asked what happened. McLaughlin reportedly refused to identify himself to police. According to the report, both men said they were fine and “having a grown man conversation.”…
