PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Administration is issuing new W-2 forms after a number of state employees received documents populated with incorrect information.
12 News reached out to Gov. Dan McKee’s office after some state workers reported that their W-2, an important tax form that reports an employee’s wages and withholdings for the entire year, incorrectly listed their employer as “State of Rhode Island Umbrella Company.”
“There are boxes in state employee W-2s populated with incorrect information,” a spokesperson for the Department of Administration (DOA) confirmed. “At the governor’s direction, we are doing a full review to understand why this error occurred and its impact.”
The DOA spokesperson further shared that “State of Rhode Island Umbrella Company” is a term used to identify the group containing the three branches of government and the state’s three public colleges…
