Michael J. Rapoza was sworn in as chief of police and 18 others received promotions during a ceremony overseen by East Providence Mayor Roberto DaSilva on Jan. 27.
The other promotions were to deputy chief, three captains, four lieutenants, six sergeants and four detectives.
