Mass. travel bans end at noon, but drivers should expect icy, snow-covered roads

Travel bans remain in effect for parts of Massachusetts a day after blizzard conditions slammed the region, and even as crews work furiously to clear the roads, some drivers were forced to abandon their stranded vehicles.

Gov. Maura Healey prohibited non-essential travel in Bristol, Plymouth, Barnstable and Dukes counties Monday afternoon because of the severity of the conditions. There are exceptions to the ban, including emergency responders, public safety workers, plow drivers and utility crews, food and fuel delivery trucks, and medical staff. Anyone found breaking the ban on non-essential travel could be fined up to $500.
