‘Thank you!’: Residents rejoice as new snow removal equipment arrives in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Cheers erupted on the streets of Providence Wednesday night with the anticipated arrival of new heavy machinery to clear snow.

A 12 News crew drove through communities across Rhode Island to assess conditions following the storm, but some of the toughest were seen in Providence.

Snow removal remains a work in progress statewide. While main roads in Smithfield and Johnston are mostly clear, side streets are still snow-covered and uneven. Front-end loaders are making their way through neighborhoods in North Providence and Cranston.
